Get to know the ultimate warehouse machine.
System overview
Take a closer look at the automated warehouse system that drives your business forward.
FAST TRACK: The Grid is topped off with tracks running along an X and Y axis, allowing the robots to move quickly without obstacle to access any cell inside the Grid.
GROW AS YOU GO: The modular design of means extending the Grid is pain-free. In most cases, we can safely isolate the extension area and expand the grid with no downtime and minimal impact on your regular operations.
SERVICE ACCESS: The top of the grid can be reached via the Service Tower, which includes a robot lift for adding or removing robots and a ladder for personnel access. The service trolley can be used for cleaning the system and simple fixes.
GRID HEIGHT: Max height is 16 bins, resulting in 5.4m to the top of the tracks (17.75'). With Robots and recommended service space, the height is 6.7m (22') in total. Min height is 4 bins, resulting in 2.7m (8.86') total height.
INSIDE DIMENSIONS
W: 403 mm / L: 603 mm / H: 312 mm
COMPARTMENTS
The bin can be split in various compartment configurations.
Each compartment holds one SKU:
Fact 1: A bin can hold up to 100 t-shirts, 200 iPhones, or 5 shoe boxes.
Fact 2: The bins are large enough to fit 85% of goods sold on Amazon.
Fact 3: Made of strong HDPE plastic, the bins are so durable that bins from 2005 are still in use.
RELIABLE TO THE CORE
Each Robot is independently controlled, supporting a system with no single point of failure and an uptime of 99.7%. Any Robot can collect any Bin and deliver it to any Workstation. This flexibility means you have access to 100% of your stock when you need it.
ENERGY EFFICIENT
Robots are assigned tasks based on their location, always completing the closest task taking the shortest route. Utilizing regenerative technology, energy is returned to the battery, making our system able to run on solar power alone.
GROW AS YOU GO
With Pio you can scale your robot fleet up and down according to seasonal demands. In the rare occasion that a robot needs service, a replacement can be easily swapped in.
The robots continuously deliver bins to Ports at the Workstations. These areas are designed for employee safety and comfort while keeping fulfillment rolling with unprecedented speed and reliability.
ALL ACCESS:
All of the inventory can be accessed from all of the Ports, so you don’t risk having inventory stuck in case of a holdup at one Workstation. There's no need to pick and pass the orders to other Workstations to complete the orders. Orders are simply packed and completed on the spot, reducing human error.
FLEXIBLE
All Ports can be used for both picking and storing inventory, making it a highly flexible system. You can pick and store in different Ports at the same time, so you never need to pause operations (read: delay fulfillment) until you complete inbound processes.
POWER CONSUMPTION
Avg: 20 Watts
* Tables and IT equipment are procured by the customer to complete the Workstation according to needs.
In warehouses that can fit most of their inventory in the Pio Grid, shelves will typically be used for items that don’t fit inside of a bin (think: skis or bulky overcoats).
BACKSTOCK
In warehouses with a need for buffer stock outside of Pio, the Grid will function as a pick face. The replenishment feature in Pio lets you set a max and min quantity per SKU in the Grid. This automation will continuously update a replenishment list to make it easy for workers to efficiently top off the Grid with a simple flow.
SHELF BATCH PICKING
The Pio app will optimize the picking route for picking multiple orders on shelves at the same time. These items will be put on a trolley and brought to a Port for consolidation with items in the Grid.
Read more about the Shelf picking feature, and Move feature.
* Note that shelves are not part of the physical system, and are procured by the customer.
PIO APP
Warehouse workers only need to interact with our intuitive Pio app—a cloud-based software that runs on iPads at the Ports. The Pio app connects to the customer's ecommerce platform, ERP, or WMS through the Pio API or pre-made plugins.
Areas of integration:
- Stores (allows multiple order/inventory channels)
- Inventory
- Orders
- Shipping
- Purchase orders
- Pio sandbox environment
- API documentation: pio.dev
The Customer Console:
Superusers are trained to use the service software, running on a separate PC. In this software, simple service tasks are handled, like starting and stopping the system or adding more robots.
The Controller manages the system and contains:
· The Controller PC: The brain that controls the system.
· Uninterruptible power supply (UPS): This ensures the controller has power and a controlled shutdown in case of a power outage.
· ASIO: To control the different safety functions.
· App server: For supporting apps, backup and cloud connections.
The system needs a stable wifi connection to run, just like the rest of a modern software stack.
