Our modular system can be tailor-built to your specific space constraints, and scale up as your business grows.
Design your custom Pio system.
Designing your custom Pio is part science, part art. We love working with you to craft a solution perfectly tailored to your needs.
And thanks to Pio's modular design, your system can easily expand as your business grows.
Take a look at our process below.
We analyze your storage needs. We review your warehouse space, inventory, and building structure. The goal is to determine the size and shape of system that works for your operations.
Analyze
To determine the ideal number of bins or totes for your operation, we take a comprehensive look at factors such as:
- Your current storage area
- Number of SKUs and items in stock
- Space availability
- Replenishment rates
- Peak storage requirements
During our consultation, we’ll dive deeper with questions like:
- How much space are you currently using for racking or pick face?
- How many active SKUs do you have in stock?
- Are you looking to store everything in Pio or just a portion?
- Are there seasonal peaks where storage needs increase significantly?
- How much free space do you currently have for installation?
Once we have a clear understanding of your requirements, we’ll present a range of options tailored to your operation and budget.
Calculate
The capacity of your Pio system is determined by its number of ports (workstations) and robots. Our goal is to design a system that not only meets your average daily needs, but also allows for seasonal peaks and future growth.
To determine the right number of ports, we assess your daily operations by asking:
- How many orders do you ship per day, on average?
- How many SKUs are typically included per order?
The number of robots is tailored to your throughput requirements. For most Pio customers, the calculation is straightforward: we recommend three robots per port. This setup usually delivers the optimal throughput to maximize efficiency in Pick, Pack, and Ship operations.
Of course, every business is unique. Some scenarios may require fewer or additional robots based on specific performance goals or operational demands. Our Pio experts work closely with you to assess your requirements and ensure your system is optimized for your team and workflow.
Review
After determining the size of your Pio grid and capacity requirements, we’ll prepare a tailored Design Proposal for your business.
This proposal outlines the key system parameters, including:
- Number of storage bins/totes
- Dimensions of the grid
- Number of ports
It also provides a detailed breakdown of costs:
- Upfront investment: Covers materials for the grid, storage bins/totes, and installation.
- Monthly pricing: Includes software fees and per-robot costs.
Once you’re satisfied with the Design Proposal, we’ll create a Final Design Document for your review and approval. This document forms the foundation of the contract between Pio and your business, ensuring everything is aligned before moving forward.
A better, smarter
warehouse in days.
